There are different versions of these kind of cabinets; some can be mounted on wall while others can store many large items. This type of curio is well crafted with wood or metal trim on the sides or back with glasses on the rest of the way around. Using a glass cabinet will allow you to make your objects viewable to your guests, friends and even to your family members, regardless of which side of the cabinet they may be on. This curio cabinet contains no wood post that blocks the view of the artwork that is stored or kept inside of it.
Corner type glass panels are one of my favorites: these are designed to fit securely in a corner, making them unobtrusive and taking up relatively little space in a room. Their biggest drawback is that they dont have much room for bulky items, but they are perfect for displaying small curiosities. Their shapes are rarely just a square. More often, they will have two sides made to fit snugly into a room corner, and the exposed side can be anything from another flat angle (making the cabinet a triangle) or rounded off to maximize room for your displays.
Really there is no actual definition of what goes into a Curio Cabinet. It will change from person to person, depending on what he or she feels is valuable and impressive enough to show off to guests. Standard wall curios are your typical curio cabinet. They are tall and narrow, normally in a squared or rectangular shape. However dont be surprised to see dylindrical curios. With the exception of the cylindrical curios, most wall curio cabinets are going to have flat backs. The point of these is to be placed against walls, but not necessarily in corners (unless you wish to place them there). Corner curio cabinets are your typical wall curio, however these must be placed in corners. Many corner curio cabinets tend to be triangular or wedge-shaped where the pointed end would go into the corner. You may also place square and rectangular cabinets in corners if you wish, though corner curios are generally a more efficient use of the space.
Just as with the shot glasses, some people collect spoons from the different places they visit. You always see decorative spoons everywhere you go, they are quite popular. Again, hanging wall curio cabinets are perfect for these spoons; they are small and fit easily within the elegant curios. I have seen people collect bells as well. Bells are very elegant and treasured by many people. Therefore, they want something just as elegant to display them in, which is where a great wall mount curio cabinet comes in very handy.
